Master Blaster

Master Blaster began its life in my little armory as a slightly different weapon. Back in the original Dystopian Playground map, it was known as a Cacolauncher. It still does exactly that; it launches Baby Cacos! It all started with the idea of "Can a Doom weapon be created which introduces monsters into the game by simply firing them in?". Therefore, it was an experiment from day one. I created the damn thing and then I had to learn about it as a player. I wrote about it and then I modified the damn thing into the Master Blaster weapon I still used today.

I wasn't content with the Baby Cacos because there was no way to tell the difference between Cacos which were "naturally occuring" in a game and the Cacos which had been launched by a player. So, I modified the player spawn ones to have the face of Doomguy in the status bar. I named them Sour Faces.

In my maps, I don't let the Master Blaster lie around waiting for the player to pickup. No, it's part of a little reward system I've devised in my maps. A player needs to kill a Carcinobus monster, which drops the weapon upon its death, allowing the player to gain a capability as a reward for vanquishing the foe. As you can see from the picture of the weapon pickup sprite, it's one of the arms of the Carcinobus!
